GST Return Filing in India: Monthly, Quarterly & Annual in Dungarpur

GST return filing is a monthly or quarterly obligation for every registered business in Dungarpur. Non-filing or late filing attracts ₹50 per day late fee (₹20 for nil returns) plus 18% interest on outstanding tax — costs that erode profitability for the many SMEs and traders in Dungarpur's green marble mining sector. Accurate return filing also directly impacts your buyers' ITC — any error in your GSTR-1 that causes a mismatch in your buyer's GSTR-2B can cost them their ITC claim and damage business relationships. StartBizX provides monthly and quarterly GST return filing for Dungarpur businesses — GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-2B reconciliation, e-way bill reconciliation, and annual GSTR-9/9C — ensuring zero errors and zero missed deadlines.

Detailed Scope & Process

What Is GST Return Filing?

A GST return is a statement that a registered taxpayer files on the GST common portal to report details of outward supplies, inward supplies, tax collected and paid, and input tax credit claimed. GST return filing is the recurring process of preparing these statements from your books, reconciling them with data on the portal, paying the tax due and submitting the return before the due date. It is required under the CGST Act, 2017 and the rules made under it, and it is one of the most important ongoing compliance obligations for a registered business.

The returns you must file depend on your type of registration, the turnover you have and the scheme you have chosen. A mistake in a single return can cascade, because the figures you report also determine the input tax credit available to your customers.

Common GST Returns Explained

  • GSTR-1: a statement of outward supplies, such as sales invoices, credit and debit notes and exports. It is filed monthly, or quarterly by those who opt for the QRMP scheme, and it feeds your customers' credit statements.
  • GSTR-3B: a summary return in which you declare your tax liability, claim input tax credit and pay the tax. It is filed monthly, or quarterly with monthly payment under the QRMP scheme.
  • IFF (Invoice Furnishing Facility): an optional facility for QRMP taxpayers to upload invoices to business customers in the first two months of a quarter.
  • CMP-08 and GSTR-4: for composition taxpayers, a quarterly statement for paying tax and an annual return.
  • GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C: the annual return and the reconciliation statement between the annual return and audited financial statements, applicable above notified turnover limits and with relaxations for smaller taxpayers.
  • Other returns: such as returns for e-commerce operators, TDS and TCS deductors, input service distributors and non-resident taxable persons.

Due dates are notified by the government and are extended or changed from time to time. Generally, GSTR-1 falls due on the 11th of the following month and monthly GSTR-3B around the 20th, but we track the notified dates for your return type and state category instead of relying on a fixed date.

Who Needs GST Return Filing Support?

  • Regular taxpayers and composition taxpayers, including small traders and service providers.
  • E-commerce sellers, manufacturers, distributors and exporters with higher invoice volumes.
  • Businesses with multiple GSTINs or branches in different states.
  • Taxpayers with nil or low activity, who still have to file returns.
  • Businesses with pending returns who need to catch up and regularise their compliance.

Why Accurate Filing Matters

Late or incorrect filing has consequences beyond a late fee. Interest is payable on tax paid after the due date. Pending returns can block the filing of subsequent returns on the portal, restrict e-way bill generation and, if the default continues for the prescribed number of tax periods, lead to cancellation of registration. Mismatches between GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-2B can trigger notices from the department. Input tax credit can be claimed only when the conditions of Section 16 are met, including that the tax has been paid by the supplier and that the claim is made within the time limit. Careful reconciliation is therefore not optional.

What Our GST Return Filing Service Includes

  • Review of your sales, purchase, credit note and expense data for the period.
  • Preparation and filing of GSTR-1, or invoice upload through IFF, as applicable.
  • Reconciliation of purchases with GSTR-2B and identification of eligible and ineligible input tax credit.
  • Computation of tax liability, including reverse charge, and guidance on payment through cash and credit ledgers.
  • Preparation and filing of GSTR-3B, or of CMP-08 and GSTR-4 for composition taxpayers.
  • Filing of nil returns where there is no activity.
  • A period-wise summary of sales, tax payable and credit utilised.
  • A due-date calendar and reminders for your registration type.
  • Annual return preparation and filing, where included in your plan.

How the Process Works

We begin with onboarding: your GSTIN, registration type, filing frequency and the format in which you maintain records. Each period, you share sales and purchase data by the date we agree. We validate it, reconcile with the portal, and send you a summary of the tax payable and credit claimed for approval. After your approval, we prepare the return. The submission is verified by the authorised signatory through an OTP, EVC or Digital Signature Certificate, as the portal requires, and you pay the tax. We then share the acknowledgement and the filed returns. If your data arrives late, the filing time is correspondingly shorter, so please plan around due dates.

Important Considerations

  • Returns cannot be revised once filed. Errors in GSTR-1 or GSTR-3B are generally corrected through an amendment in a later period, which makes first-time accuracy important.
  • Tax is payable on the due date. Filing without payment does not discharge the liability, and interest runs on late payment.
  • Nil returns are still returns. They must be filed even if there is no sale or purchase.
  • E-invoicing and e-way bills. If e-invoicing applies to your turnover, your invoices and reporting must align with the portal, and e-way bill compliance affects the supply chain.
  • Notices and assessments. Responding to notices, scrutiny or audit is a separate service and is not part of routine return filing.

Annual Return and Year-End Reconciliation

At the end of the financial year, the books, the monthly returns and the annual return must tell the same story. Differences in turnover, tax paid and input tax credit are common and should be resolved before the annual return is filed. We prepare the reconciliation and flag items such as credit notes issued after the year end, ineligible credit and reversals so that the annual return reflects your actual position. Where audited financial statements are required, GSTR-9C is prepared on the basis of the audited books.

Backlog, Missed Returns and Regularisation

If returns have not been filed for several periods, the first step is to quantify the tax, interest and late fees, and to check whether the registration is at risk of cancellation. We prepare the pending returns in the order the portal allows, advise on payment and, where registration has already been cancelled, on the possibility of applying for revocation within the time allowed. Outcomes depend on the department's decision, and we do not promise any waiver of interest or late fees.

💰 Pricing Considerations

Our professional fee depends on the number of GSTINs, the number of invoices per period, whether returns are monthly or quarterly, whether you are a regular or composition taxpayer, the quality of your books, and add-ons such as reconciliation, e-invoicing support, annual return and bookkeeping. Nil returns usually cost less than returns with transactions. Government charges are separate: the GST portal does not charge a fee for filing returns, but the tax itself, interest on delayed payment and late fees are statutory amounts payable by you. Backlog filing, notices and assessments are priced separately. Applicable statutory/government fees may vary based on jurisdiction, entity type and application details. Your professional fee quote is shared before work begins.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions & Local Advisory in Dungarpur

📍 Includes 6 localized questions tailored specifically for Dungarpur businesses

18 Q&As
A regular (non-composition) taxpayer in Dungarpur must file: GSTR-1 (outward supply details) — monthly by 11th, or quarterly by 13th if opted for QRMP scheme; GSTR-3B (summary return + tax payment) — monthly by 20th, or quarterly under QRMP; GSTR-2B is auto-populated and must be reconciled with purchase register; GSTR-9 (annual return) — by December 31 of the following year. We file all returns for Dungarpur businesses and manage the entire compliance calendar.
GSTR-2B is the auto-populated ITC statement showing what GST your suppliers have declared in their GSTR-1. If a supplier in Dungarpur or another state has not filed their return or has declared a different amount, your GSTR-2B will show a mismatch with your purchase register. Claiming more ITC than what appears in GSTR-2B can attract GST scrutiny. We perform monthly 3-way reconciliation (purchase register vs GSTR-2B vs GSTR-3B) for Dungarpur businesses and follow up with suppliers who cause mismatches.
For missing GSTR-3B or GSTR-1, the late fee is ₹50 per day (₹25 CGST + ₹25 SGST) for returns with tax liability, and ₹20 per day for nil returns. For missing GSTR-3B with tax outstanding, 18% per annum interest is charged on the unpaid tax from the due date until payment. These charges compound quickly for Dungarpur businesses with monthly turnover — timely filing is far cheaper than late fees.
For local (intra-state) supplies within Rajasthan, you charge CGST + SGST (e.g., 9% + 9% for 18% GST rate). For interstate supplies from Dungarpur to another state, you charge IGST (e.g., 18%). The GSTIN of the buyer determines whether the supply is interstate or intrastate. Exports from Dungarpur (to another country) are zero-rated — you either pay IGST and claim refund, or supply under a Letter of Undertaking (LUT) without paying IGST. We advise Dungarpur businesses on the correct tax application and file returns accordingly.
Under the QRMP scheme, taxpayers with annual aggregate turnover up to ₹5 crore can file GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B quarterly (instead of monthly) while still making monthly tax payments in the first two months of the quarter. This reduces the quarterly compliance effort from 24 return filings (12 GSTR-1 + 12 GSTR-3B) to 8 (4 quarterly filings each). For small traders, retailers, and service providers in Dungarpur, QRMP is an effective compliance simplification. We assess your eligibility and opt you in if suitable.
Yes. Exporters of goods from Dungarpur who want to export without paying IGST upfront (and claiming a refund later) must file a Letter of Undertaking (LUT) on the GST portal at the start of each financial year. LUT is filed in Form RFD-11 and is valid for the full financial year. Without LUT, you pay IGST on exports and then apply for a refund — which delays your working capital. We file LUTs for all Dungarpur exporter clients at the start of April each year.
GST return filing is the periodic submission of details of your sales, purchases, tax collected and paid and input tax credit to the GST portal, along with payment of the tax due. It is required of every registered person under the CGST Act, 2017.
A regular taxpayer generally files GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B, and an annual return where applicable. A composition taxpayer files CMP-08 quarterly and GSTR-4 annually. QRMP taxpayers file quarterly returns with monthly tax payment. Special categories such as e-commerce operators have their own returns.
Due dates are notified by the government and may change or be extended. Generally, GSTR-1 is due on the 11th of the following month and monthly GSTR-3B around the 20th, with different dates for quarterly filers. We track the notified dates for your return type and state category.
Yes. A registered person must file returns even in periods with no sales or purchases, and such returns are called nil returns. Not filing them attracts late fees and can lead to cancellation of registration if the default continues.
Late fees apply per day of delay, with different rates for nil and non-nil returns and an overall cap, and interest is payable on tax paid after the due date. The rates are prescribed by law and notifications, so we calculate the exact amount for your case. These are statutory amounts and separate from our fee.
The Quarterly Return Monthly Payment scheme lets eligible small taxpayers, up to a notified turnover limit, file returns quarterly while paying tax monthly. They can upload invoices through the Invoice Furnishing Facility in the first two months so their customers can claim credit. It is optional.
Credit is claimed in GSTR-3B after reconciling your purchases with GSTR-2B. It is allowed only if conditions under Section 16 are met, such as holding a valid tax invoice, receiving the goods or services, the supplier having paid the tax, and claiming it within the time limit. Some credits are blocked.
You need your GSTIN, sales and purchase invoices or registers, credit and debit notes, reverse charge details, export documents if applicable, previous returns and ledger balances, and the authorised signatory's OTP, EVC or DSC at filing time. Bank statements help if books are not in software.
For a monthly return, filing is usually expected within 1 to 3 working days after we receive complete and clean data. Time depends on invoice volume, reconciliation issues and the portal's availability. Late data shortens the time we have before the due date.
The GST portal does not charge a fee for filing returns. The tax payable, interest on delayed payment and late fees are statutory amounts and are separate from our professional fee. We calculate them and confirm the figures before filing.
Generally no. GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B cannot be revised once filed. Errors are corrected through amendments or adjustments in a later period's return, which is why reconciliation before filing is important.
Pending returns attract late fees and interest, can block later returns and e-way bills, and may lead to cancellation of registration if the default continues. We quantify the dues, prepare the pending returns and advise on regularisation. We cannot promise any waiver of fees or interest.
